A Quick Start Guide to God

"I'd rather have God without religion... than religion without God."

Here is a book 'for those disappointed in religion, and confused by childish arguments over traditional ideas about God, yet are still aware that there must be more to the universe than just crude physical reality.' 

It is not a religious book.  I myself have had about enough of religion, religiosity, and hypocrisy. 

For the most part, religions of today are compilations of manmade legalistic claptrap, which has little instructional value for imparting real understanding of God.  Many people who appear to be religious or holy people, on the surface, are more interested in impressing one another with shows of insincere piety, than in helping others or deepening their own relationship with God. 

Worse still, many people who have published religious books or who are involved in leading religious congregations seem to be on the take, and see their work not as a way to bring others closer to understanding God and our place in the universe, but merely as another choice of occupation.

I don't have anything against any particular religion or religious people as they pertain to a culture or nation.  It's just that they mainly convey little about God.  I see them mainly as picturesque repositories of traditions and rituals.

The main problem, from my point of view, is they still pretend to teach understanding about God, or even to position themselves as alternate avenues to God or to salvation.  And, in doing so, they often embitter people towards God; or distract and discourage them from sincere efforts toward greater understanding.  In either case, the artificial trappings and demands of religiousness end up turning people away from God.

Fortunately, it is not necessary to join a church, join a religion, or to perform any rituals to begin understanding God.  I present this book as an alternative for those who which to sidestep the superfluous steps and burdens.
